7a JCH SF)--Enid
police continue to investigate a shooting early Tuesday morning in the 400
block of South Madison that left a local man with some minor injuries. The
victim, 49-year-old Christopher Edwards, was treated at an Enid hospital
and released. According to authorities, Edwards reported he saw two men as
he was walking north in the 400 block of South Madison between 4:00 and
4:20 Tuesday morning. He told police he heard a rustling noise behind him
and saw two men, one wearing a bandana over his face. The men are
described as two light-skinned males about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, one with
short hair and wearing a light color shirt. The second man had longer hair
pulled back in a ponytail and was wearing a dark-colored shirt. Edwards
said he continued to walk and when he turned again the man with a bandana
over his face raised his arm and fired a handgun at him. He was struck
once in the buttocks and walked to a nearby friend’s home, then was
taken to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center for treatment. Enid Police
Capt. Dean Grassino said Edwards told police neither of the men said
anything before firing about four shots. He said Edwards, who plead guilty
in August 2006 to a felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled
dangerous substance with intent to distribute, had just gotten off work,
had been to Walgreens and was on his way to a friend’s home at the time
of the shooting. Police are processing evidence recovered from the scene,
and detectives are reviewing witness statements. Anyone having information
is asked to call Garfield County Crime Stoppers at 233-6233 or Enid Police
Department at 242-7000.
